What shippers look for in a freight partner: insights from the Amazon Freight shipper roundtable

Three logistics providers joined Amazon Freight in Germany to share how they choose carriers, what keeps them up at night, and where they want the partnership to go next.

In September 2026, Amazon Freight hosted its first shipper roundtable at Amazon’s DTM1 facility in Werne, Germany. Moderated by Ankur Prasad Rastogi of Amazon Freight, it brought together Wangjie Wen, Managing Director of Forest Shipping, Tete Akrofi, Logistics Coordinator at IMC Pro Logistics, and Siming Wang, Managing Director of 4PLinks. All three move goods from China into Amazon’s European network, and all three have grown quickly.

The roundtable covered what the shippers look for in a carrier, where they want more support, and how they approach sustainability.

Beyond price: how shippers choose a carrier

When discussing carrier choice, reliability, capacity through peak, and responsive support came up just as often as cost.

“Price is important, but price is not everything,” says Wangjie. For FBA shipments, on-date delivery comes first. He also looks for easy booking, clear tracking, and quick support.

Siming, whose company has worked with Amazon Freight since 2020, says the priorities have moved beyond price to stability, especially during Q4 peak . “Right now, Amazon Freight gives us more balance and the whole package.”

Tete adds cost efficiency, capacity across high and low seasons, and connectivity between fulfilment centres, including redirecting shipments when needed.

What keeps shippers up at night

Their biggest concerns were order control, fast support, and clear updates when plans change.

Tete wants to adjust orders after booking, while Wangjie asked for a simpler booking website, better API integration , a clear contact person, and clearer information about delays and appointment changes. “In logistics, solutions are urgent,” he says.

Siming raised the timing of price changes: his customers’ cargo spends four to five weeks at sea, so short-notice changes are hard to absorb. He also valued the data his account team shares. “We’re working together, growing together.”

Sustainability that works day to day

Amazon has committed to net-zero carbon by 2040 , and the shippers discussed how Amazon Freight can help. “For us, sustainability must work in daily operations,” says Wangjie, pointing to better truck loading, fewer empty kilometres, and smarter route planning. Siming called for more electric trucks and more loose-load deliveries.

A message for Amazon Freight leadership

When asked to speak directly to Amazon Freight leadership, Tete focused on the end customer: “We are working for our customers, you are working for your customers. Let’s make our customers happy.” Wangjie wants to “build a faster, more reliable, and more sustainable logistics network in Europe” together. Siming kept it short: “Amazon Freight is not just for Amazon.”

The main themes of the discussion were reliability, clear communication, and growing together. Watch the full roundtable video below.
